Travel to Les Houches
By Air
Chamonix is less than one hour's drive from Geneva, and our apartment is less than a mile from the excellent main road/motorway. If you don't intend to rent a car there are scheduled bus services. DON'T take the train - the route is very roundabout and takes several hours! If you are not driving from the airport, there are many airport transfer services. The more ecologically conscious may like to try Mountain RideShare. For commercial transfers try ChamExpress, ATS, Geneva-Chamonix Transfers, Cham-Van, Mountain Dropoffs, Chamonix Tourist Office, Alpybus and Chamonix.net The Geneva Airport and Geneva/Airport Bus Stations websites are also useful sorces of information.
By Rail
There are TGV and sleeper train services from Paris direct to stations nearby: see the SNCF, Rail Europe, and Eurostar websites. Local trains run to Chamonix station, and Les Houches is ten minutes by taxi. The SnowCarbon website has a lot of useful information on rail travel for skiing.
By Car
Driving distance from Calais is 550 miles, and there are motorway-standard roads for all but a mile. If you leave at breakfast time you will be there by dinner.
Non-drivers, or those who don't want to drive on their holidays, can use the excellent local bus and train services to get around during their stay.
